The Steek
In the Mastering Steeks course, we’ll conquer the art of steeking—a technique that lets you cut your knitting to create openings like cardigans or armholes. We’ll learn:
- What steeking is and why it’s a game-changer for colorwork and seamless knitting.
- How to prepare your knitting for a steek, including securing stitches to prevent unraveling
- Different methods of reinforcement, like crochet and sewing, so you can choose what works best for you.
- – How to confidently cut your fabric, with tips to make the process stress-free.
- – Finishing techniques to give your project a polished, professional look.
- By the end of the masterclass, I want the participants to feel fearless when it comes to steeks and ready to add this transformative technique to their knitting toolkit!
MATERIALS:
- Wool yarn (non-superwash) – sticky wool like Shetland or Lettlopi is best. Avoid superwash or cotton/acrylic.
- Knitting needles – suitable for the yarn weight.
