How Travelers Started
On May 2022, at the Knitting Festival of Sevilla, the 1st Sevilla Teje, I met Katrin, the dyer behind Yarnity. That was my 1st festival as a designer and we were still wearing masks. It was the 1st festival in Spain after COVID. I had 2 beautiful designs with Soc una Troca, Arte and Storm in Sevilla.
I WAS SO EXCITED that people was telling me that I was shinning! It was true…A dream had come true! I was becoming a designer!!
Yarnity was right next to Soc una Troca and of course we didn’t miss the opportunity to meet! I even bought one of the lovely T-Shirts that is selling and is definitely one of my favorites! On the top of it is a beautiful woman and with beautiful letters it says: Tejer which means Knit!
Some months later, we met again in Barcelona Knit and then again in Madrid! In Madrid I realized how sweet she is and at some point, Katrin, Julie -Julie Knits in Paris- and I were talking and talking about so many stuff and I liked her SO MUCH, her way of thinking and her professionalism were amazing! She suggested me to do a collaboration! I had a big smile on my face! And finally in Sevilla Teje 2023, I showed her an idea that I had designed for the Laine’s latest submission call and she was in love! So we decided directly to go ahead! We chose the colors of her fantastic Etone base and I left with a bunch of skeins in my arms! 8…8 wonderful Etone in my hug! What would I wish more!
Eight skeins of yarn dyed in Madrid, brought to me in Sevilla and travelled to Germany where I started my new Colorwork dream! A colorwork travel…I casted on on our way to Munich, where we left the kids, and headed to Austria on our 1st holidays as a couple, I knitted in Austria, then we went to Italy, at the mountains, at the aunt’s house, then we went to visit the other half of the family, in Toscana, Viareggio, at the sea and then we went to meet to say hi and meet Paola from mYAK and my dear and super sweet Kim! I will dedicate another post about Paola and Kim, because they definitely deserve it!
It is trully magic to be able to KNIT EVERYWHERE! The time flies so peaceful. You have your love next to you, your knit, wonderful music to hear and going through the amazing Alpes! A well deserved trip to create and relax!
After some days, we picked up the kids, came back home and started writing the pattern, trying different edges for the pattern, even different COs and BOs. Gladly I had started with a provisional CO and then I could play a lot! We decided to keep the folded St. St and it is brilliant!
The biggest part of the scarf was knitted in Greece, between family, friends and hugs! It was my first thing to do with my morning coffee and before I went to sleep. Sometimes I knitted at the beach, ignoring people that were looking and possibly thinking that I am a bit crazy! Who said I am not and who said we are not allowed to knit everywhere?! Of course we can! <3
And this is how this beautiful scarf travelled around Europe to become a Traveler!! A Traveler for Knitters Travelers! For Knitters that bring their WIP just everywhere!
A big thank to Katrin, to my tech editor, my testers and one of my most dearest friends, Elena for her amazing photoshooting!
